IPO COOPERATION WITH THE BUDAPEST AUXILIARY POLICE
After several years of intensive cooperation with the Auxiliary Police of Hungary, the Budapest Section headed by Mr. Pal Kardoš, another working meeting was held.
On that occasion, additional aspects of cooperation between IPO and Polgarorseg, which is the official name of this security organization, were discussed.
The Auxiliary Police has its roots in America, where it was created during the Second World War when citizens were asked to patrol because a large number of policemen participated in the war. After that, many cities, especially New York, introduced this type of police. In short, these are citizen volunteers who patrol the neighborhood where they live for a certain number of hours after their regular work and before it, without receiving any income.
Of course, to become a member of the Auxiliary Police, security checks and a short training are required. The best every year have the opportunity to establish a working relationship in the State Police if they wish.
There are currently 90,000 such volunteers in Hungary, and around 3,000 are constantly active in Budapest, making it the safest capital of the European Union.
They have offices in all local police stations as well as their facilities for training citizens, they deal with video surveillance of public areas and gatherings, regulate traffic, provide assistance in accidents (they were very active during the floods in October 2024) and the like. Cooperation with the State and Municipality Police is the closest possible without any complexes because realistically, they make the police's job much easier.
After all, their biggest donor is the police, who supply them with vehicles, motorcycles and other equipment. They also receive great gratitude from the city as well as large donations. More about the civilian police on their website
The organized meeting of the leaders of the organizations will bring a series of new trainings for the IPO during 2025 and in general, the cooperation will be much more intense. According to the preliminary agreement, the partners from Budapest will organize trainings during the next year for our members who show interest.
Today October 3, was also a kind of precedent because after the decision of the leadership of the civil police, Mr. Pal Kardoš presented to the IPO Founder and Honorary President, Professor Ilija Životić with a certificate of Honorary Membership and identification of the Auxiliary Police of Budapest, even though he is not a Hungarian citizen.
This only speaks of the quality of our relations and promises even more intensive cooperation, as was also emphasized in the previous meeting in November 2022.
